Oregon State snapped a three game losing streak against the Washington Huskies in a big way tonight, earning a 91-71 win. Great three point shooting and lots of scoring off of turnovers fueled the Beavers tonight, with the team improving to 9-7 overall, and 5-5 in conference play.
Threes from Jarod Lucas and Ethan Thompson opened the first half to set the tone for Oregon State. The Beavers were very good from the three point line in the first half, going 5 for 9. The team capitalized on Washington miscues, scoring 12 points off of 9 Husky turnovers. Washington managed to hang around with good play from Marcus Tsohonis, but a 10 point Beaver run put Oregon State back in the driver’s seat. They headed into the half up 47-35.
Oregon State kept up the pressure in the second half, with a pair of Jarod Lucas threes giving the team a 20 point lead. Unfortunately some timely turnovers and poor shooting from the Beavers let Washington crawl there way back into the game. Threes from Jarod Lucas and Ethan Thompson put that run to bed though, and Oregon State stayed well in front for the rest of the game, winning 91-71.
The Beavers shot 11-24 from behind the three point line, and scored 20 points off of 14 Washington turnovers at the end of the night. Jarod Lucas hit 5 of those threes in one of his most impressive performances on the team.
