After a first quarter where it seemed like the Oregon State women might be in trouble, the Beavers dominated the rest of the game to defeat Western Washington 73-43 in an exhibition match Saturday afternoon.

Oregon State opened the game rotating their players heavily, making sure to get everyone some playing time. That led to a bit of a slow start for the Beavers, allowing Western Washington to jump out to a 21-17 lead after the first quarter.

The Beavers did not take long to wrest control of the game from the Vikings. An Ellie Mack three halfway through the second quarter gave the Beavers the lead, and Oregon State never looked back. They took a 34-26 lead into the half.

The second half was all Oregon State. Western Washington scored just 5 points in the third and 9 points in the fourth, while the Beaver offense exploded to give them a 30 point win, 73-43. Ellie Mack led the team in scoring with 14 points and six rebounds, Talia von Oelhoffen finished with 11 points, 5 assists and 2 blocks, and Taylor Jones added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

We’re now just a week away from the start of the basketball season. Oregon State opens their non conference schedule at home, with a contest against Loyola Marymount scheduled for Friday, November 12th with an 8:00 PM tip off time.
