According to a report from Nick Daschel at The Oregonian, Oregon State’s football team has picked up a transfer with a controversial history. Marco Brewer was a standout guard and 3 star recruit when he played for Corvallis High School. He originally committed to play for UCLA back in 2017, but that summer he was arrested and charged with first degree rape and first degree sexual assault.

After a long court process, Brewer eventually entered an Alford Plea, which allowed him to maintain his innocence while not contesting the charges. Those charges were reduced to felony coercion, and Brewer was sentenced to probation and community service. He played football for Lane College in Oakland, CA in 2018.

Brewer has yet to be added to Oregon State’s online roster, and with sports activities suspended until next year that may not happen for some time. He does appear in Oregon State’s student directory.
