What To Watch For

The 2020 MLB Draft goes down on Wednesday night and following our primer with all things related to Oregon State from yesterday, we’re ready to take in all the name-calling action along with you.

The main focus for Beaver Nation will likely be around pitcher Mick Abel, an Oregon State commit from Jesuit High School in Portland, who is a projected Top 20 pick. There’s currently no information if Abel would sign a professional contract based on his high projection or opt to continue with his college plans.

MLB.com’s latest Mock Draft has Abel being selected with the #17 overall pick by the Boston Red Sox.

Other names who are currently in the Oregon State program to watch include a pair of pitchers in Kevin Abel (ranked #152 overall prospect by ESPN.com) and Christian Chamberlain (ranked #174 overall prospect by ESPN.com).

Round 1 (Day 1) of the draft begins at 4:00 PM PT and will feature 37 picks. Rounds 2-5 (Day 2) of the selection process will continue tomorrow on Thursday, June 11th, beginning at 2:00 PM PT.
