Beavers Ranked 75th in Preseason SP+

Is Oregon State going bowling in 2020?

NCAA Football: Oregon State at Oregon Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

It’s preseason SP+ day! Bill Connelly current ESPN staffer and former SB Nation stats guru has released his preseason rankings for the 2020 season. These rankings use three primary factors: returning production, recent recruiting and recent history. Oregon State Football slots in at 75th just ahead of Arkansas, but behind SDSU.

The rankings have Oregon State’s offense at 72nd and their defense at 79th in the nation. That would mean a big dip in offense compared to last year, but a jump in defensive ranking. Overall that makes sense based on returning production. The Beavers offense is losing Jake Luton, Isaiah Hodgins and three starters on the offensive line. While on defense the Beavers return almost everyone.

Here’s how the rest of the Pac-12 were ranked:

  • Oregon - #13
  • USC - #15
  • Washington - #24
  • Utah - #31
  • Arizona State - #40
  • Washington State - #47
  • Stanford - #48
  • Cal - #52
  • UCLA - #60
  • Oregon State - #75
  • Arizona - #78
  • Colorado - #91
