Oregon State Football: Most Valuable Player Countdown - #3 Isaiah Hodgins

The countdown continues with the Beavers #1 WR making his appearance on this list...

NCAA Football: Oregon State at Stanford Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

We are now five days away from Beaver football. The anticipation is killing at the Building the Dam crew. To help hold us all over, we have a preview of our third most important player on the Oregon State roster ready to roll out.

What really needs to be said about Isaiah Hodgins? Number 17 came into this football program as one of the mostly highly touted recruits Oregon State had snagged in some time. Since his first day on campus, Hodgins has demonstrated why there was so much anticipation surrounding him. Hodgins showed number one receiver potential even as a true freshman, and in his sophomore season he came into his own as the Beavers top target.

After playing in 11 games and notching slightly less than 300 yards, Hodgins turned flipped a switch in his sophomore year. In year two in the orange and black, Hodgins amassed 59 receptions for 876 yards to go with five touchdowns. Hodgins development from year one to year two should give fans hope that he will continue to develop in Smith’s offense. Should he see another steady rise in his development, Hodgins could quickly become one of the best receivers in the Pac-12 Conference.

Hodgins will be the unquestioned number one receiver on this team. He is one of those rare talents that manages to elevate everyone else around him, especially the guy that is under center. Hodgins is one of Oregon State’s premier players, and Beaver fans should expect him to play like such in his third year in Corvallis.

Projected Statistics:

70 Receptions, 1,059 Yards, 8 Touchdowns
