The countdown of Oregon State Football’s most valuable player continues with number 8. Just 10 days until the home opener!

#8 Shawn Wilson - Defensive Back

Shawn Wilson is one of the most experienced defensive players for Oregon State. As he prepares for his redshirt senior season, he’s appeared in 31 games (17 starts). As a junior he racked up 44 tackles and for his career he’s recorded 82 tackles, 4.5 for a loss, two interceptions and eight pass breakups.

With former OSU defensive back Dwayne Williams transferring to Sam Houston State, Shawn Wilson will be trusted to cover opposing slot receivers full time. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Wilson has the speed and agility to stick with quick receivers cutting across the middle. Fans and the coaching staff are hoping to have a fully healthy secondary in 2019 and the Beavers are looking to take a leap defensively. They’ve impressed in fall camp so far and looked good in Saturday’s scrimmage. Oregon State will need to rely on Shawn Wilson, Jalen Moore, Elu Aydon and the other senior leaders on this defense if that is going to become a reality. Look for the defense to be improved going into 2019.

Projected Stats:

47 Tackles, 4 TFLs, 2 INTs
