Oregon State Football: Most Valuable Player Countdown - #9 Blake Brandel

The senior offensive lineman will try and lead a new look offensive line next season

NCAA Football: Oregon State at Ohio State Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The countdown of Oregon State Football’s most valuable player continues with number nine. Just 11 more days until the home opener! Real college football is going to be played this weekend!

#9 Blake Brandel - Offensive Tackle

Our #9 most valuable player happens to be the player with the most in game experience. Blake Brandel has started all 36 games he has been apart of in an Oregon State uniform, which is the most on the team going into next season. Having a healthy/reliable offensive lineman is an invaluable thing to have when you play in a conference with elite pass rushers.

Brandel will be apart of a fairly new look offensive line next season where he and Gus Lavaka (who will appear later on in the countdown; check buildingthedam later to see where he lands *wink wink*) are the only projected starters returning. Brandel has spent most of his time at left tackle and I would suspect that’s where we will see him play next year as well. Although the line is full of new comers, most of them have experience playing at other division 1 schools and I expect they’ll do a better job of protecting the QB next season.
