Oregon State Football: Most Valuable Player Countdown - #10 Addison Gumbs

The transfer OLB could be the pass rusher specialists the Beavs have been waiting for.

The countdown of Oregon State Football’s most valuable player continues with number 12. Just 12 more days until the home opener! Real college football is going to be played next weekend!

#10 Addison Gumbs - Outside Linebacker

We are on to our top 10! Coming in at number 10 is transfer outside linebacker Addison Gumbs. The former 4 star recruit originally ended up at college football powerhouse Oklahoma where he played 4 games as a freshmen and was thought to to be lock for a starting job as a sophomore before tearing his ACL. Shortly after suffering the injury Gumbs announced that he was transferring to Oregon State to return to the west coast.

Gumbs was a defensive end at Oklahoma but has shifted to the outside linebacker position in Tim Tibesar’s 3-4 scheme. Expect Gumbs to be featured a lot in the pass rush from both the OLB position and occasionally lining up as a defensive end in 4-3 packages. AS long as he is healthy Gumbs is expected to give the OSU defense the pass rusher it has lacked for several years. Honestly the only thing keeping him from being in the top 5 of our list is questions surrounding the health of his knee. If he is able to stay on the field he may end up being the most important member of the OSU defense.

Projected Stats:

66 Tackles, 17 TFL’s, 5.5 Sacks
