As our countdown continues, we are just 45 days away from the Beavers season opener against Oklahoma State at Reser. Our list continues with the #43 most valuable player.
#43 Omar Speights - Linebacker
Oregon State needs a ton of help on the defensive side of the ball if they have any hope of turning this thing around soon. I don’t need to rehash last year, but thank god for UConn, otherwise OSU may have had the worst defense out there. Can the rivals 4 star recruit help get things going in the right direction. We sure hope so.
Personally, I would have Speights much higher on my list (sorry Marcus). Rated 4 stars by Rivals, the Philadelphia native garnered a lot of interest from power 5 programs across the nation. Speights decided to join his brother in Corvallis, moving across the country for his senior year of high school and enrolling early at OSU.
The 6’1” 230 pound athlete will be playing linebacker for the Beavs after a high school career that saw him line up at running back and defensive end. I expect Speights to make an immediate impact as a run stopper and occasional pass rusher
Projected Statistics:
30 Tackles, 3 TFLs, 1.5 Sacks, 2 FF
