#45 Nahshon Wright - Defensive Back

One of the more intriguing pieces on the Beavers secondary depth chart could become Nahshon Wright, a junior college transfer from Laney Community College in Oakland, California, who has a big and lanky frame that makes him an ever likable piece for a defensive that still has more questions than answers.

Wright committed to Oregon State in early June of 2019, making him a later addition to the squad that will have to earn his stripes quickly through the preseason. At 6’ 4”, Wright checks all the boxes physically, but the adjustment to the Division I level is always an unknown commodity when discussing JUCO transfers. Last season at Laney, Wright showed his play-making abilities when he returned 2 interceptions for touchdowns, snagged 2 other picks and tallied 17 tackles overall.

If Wright can emerge as a suitable candidate that the coaching staff can regularly rely on then don’t be surprised to see the East Palo Alto, California native finding himself more snaps on the field as the season progresses. But until then, we’ll leave him at #45 on our list, as one of the team’s many enigmas heading into Fall Camp.
