The offseason is quickly coming to end when the Beavers will take on the Cowboys and we’re continuing our countdown of the 50 most important players for Oregon State football this season. Today we’re focusing on one of the new faces on the revamped D-Line.
#46: Simon Sandberg - Defensive End
We’re going to be seeing a lot of new faces on the Beavers’ D-Line this season, and one of them will belong to a 6-3 265 DE from Karlstad, Sweden. Sandberg comes to Oregon State by way of City College of San Francisco. In his last season there, he totaled 12 tackles, 8 of those for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. He forced one fumble and recovered 2.
Sandberg looks like he could be a key depth piece on the defensive line. He’s shown the ability to get into the backfield and disrupt plays on a regular basis. He’ll probably need to be coached up to raise his game to Division I level, but the potential is definitely there. There’s going to be a lot of competition along the line this season, and Sandberg, a redshirt junior, will get an opportunity to make a case for himself.
Projected Statistics:
12 tackles, 4 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble.
