The college football season is quickly approaching and we are just 44 days from an official college football game. Oregon State will open their season on August 30th (51 days from now) at home against Oklahoma State Cowboys and Mike Gundy’s hair.
With the off-season quickly coming to an end, Building the Dam is unveiling their top 50 most valuable football players that will help lead the Beavers to a successful 2019 season. We’ll countdown by previewing one player at a time until it’s time for some Beaver football and also take a stab at projecting production for each player (minus offensive lineman, because despite their crucial role their stats are almost impossible to track). Without further ado #49.
#49: Jordan Choukair - Kicker
Jordan Choukair took a lot of heat from over-passionate/misguided Oregon State fans last season. Especially after missing the game-winning field goal against Nevada. He hit just 25-of-40 Field Goals over the last two seasons (not great).
And while Choukair isn’t know for having the biggest leg he did hit a 49-yarder last season and the coaching staff feels comfortable sending him out there as long as the offense gets to the 35-yard line. Adding true freshman kicker and Oregon-native, Jeffrey Nelson will add depth to the position; but this is undoubtedly Choukair’s job next season. The coaching staff has the utmost confidence in his kicking abilities and I’d look for Jordan Choukair to leave the past behind him and have a great senior season. I’m expecting him to make some very important kicks in 2019; especially since the Beavers will most likely be in some more close games.
Projected Statistics:
