After a low scoring affair in yesterday’s matchup, Oregon State suffered another disappointing loss in which it was too little, too late for the Beavers offense.
The scoring got off to a much quicker start as the Oklahoma State Cowboys hung up two runs against Oregon State’s one after three innings to give us a 2-1 Cowboys lead heading into the fourth inning. From there, Oklahoma State put up another run in the fourth followed by two more in the fifth inning. The Beavs would add one more run in the eighth inning, giving us our final score of 5-2.
While the lack of runs didn’t help the cause, Bryce Fehmel wasn’t in usual form tonight. This lack of touch by Fehm set Oregon State behind before the fifth inning had even finished. Fehmel has been one of the solid points of this rotation for the entire year, but today wasn’t a strong outing for #26. Fehm finished the day with five innings pitched, four strikeouts, and five earned runs on eight hits. Nathan Burns, Jake Pfennigs and Andrew Walling each came on in relief after Fehmel’s departure and each pitched very well in their appearances and shut down the Cowboys offense.

In a day where the Beavs notched just seven hits, Adley Rutschman accounted for two of those hits and one of the runs and was the biggest contributors on offense (no surprise there). Jake Harvey, Ryan Ober, Andy Armstrong, Jake Dukart and Preston Jones each notched a single hit during the game.
Oregon State will look to salvage at least one game out of this series in the final match of the series tomorrow. First pitch will be at 12:00 PM PST.
