Recap: Oregon State Baseball Drops Friday Pitcher’s Duel To Oklahoma State

A lack of offense doomed the Beavers in the series opener.

It was not an ideal start in an important non-conference series for the Beavers. Oklahoma State won the game 1-0. The Cowboys had nine hits to just two by the home team. Neither team committed an error.

Oregon State didn’t get a runner on base until the bottom of the third. It was a pitchers duel throughout the entire night.

The first score came in the top of the 7th when Oklahoma State’s Alix Garcia came through with an RBI single.

Rutschman was walked in the 7th inning for the 56th time this season, which is a single-season program record.

The Beavs would have a few different chances to tie the game up late, but nothing came through.

All things considered, Brandon Eisert had a great day on the mound. He pitched eight innings allowing nine hits and an earned run with eight strikeouts. The offense simply wasn’t there to support.

Worse things have happened, but two hits is still somewhat concerning with the amount of firepower we’ve seen on this team this year. It’s definitely one of the lower totals we’ve seen from this program in quite some time.

The series picks back up again on Saturday night at 6:00 PM.
