The defensive line depth took a hit this off-season, as Miki Fifita is no longer with Oregon State’s football team. A university official confirmed his departure from the team and Fifita is no longer listed on Oregon State’s 2019 football roster.
Fifita was scheduled to be a redshirt senior for the 2019 season. He had his most successful season last year with Oregon State playing in all 12 games (6 starts) and recording six tackles.
It was not immediately clear the cause of Fifita’s departure, but he has not entered his name into the transfer portal at this time. Fifita’s absence will put more pressure on current defensive linemen Elu Aydon, Jeromy Reichner, Isaac Hodgins, Jordan Whittley, Evan Bennett and others at the point of attack.
The Beavers finished up spring practices about a month ago and are looking to get healthy as they gear up for the summer and the upcoming season. Oregon State opens the season on August 30th against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
