Prior to the start of the 2018-2019 college basketball season, we asked all of you out there in Beaver Nation if you thought head coach Wayne Tinkle was on the hot-seat. Tinkle was coming off a 16-16 campaign which features as many let-downs as stand-out moments, but by a solid 58%-42% margin, Beaver Nation voted in favor of keeping the program director.

Just over one year later, we felt the need to ask the question once again, after this past campaign’s disappointing end.

For the tale of the tape, Tinkle has posted a 75-83 overall record at Oregon State in five seasons, including a 35-55 mark in conference play. The Beavers best finish under the 53-year old came in 2015-2016, where the program qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1990, led by two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Gary Payton II.

However, this past season, the Beavers’ faithful have begun to grow restless with Tinkle, as Oregon State dropped five of their last seven games to close out the campaign and missed out on post-season basketball for the third straight year. Tinkle has also taken criticism for his mystifying recruiting style, which has included most of his best players during his tenure being offspring of the coaching staff, as well as parting ways with a myriad of transfers, including Kendal Manuel (Montana), Derrick Bruce (Northwest Florida State, Texas Southern), JaQuori McLaughlin (UC-Santa Barbara), Jack Wilson (Idaho), Jordan Campbell (Fresno State) and Warren Washington (Undecided).

So once again Beaver Nation, the answer is all yours. Should head coach Wayne Tinkle be considered on the “hot seat” heading into the 2019-2020 campaign? Let us know below.
