- According to a report from ESPN, former embattled Oregon State pitched Luke Heimlich has signed a contract with Dos Laredos Tecolotes of Mexico’s summer baseball league. Heimlich, who was not selected in last year’s MLB Draft, was a two-time Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year during his time in Corvallis, but has not been signed by an MLB club due to his past admissions of molesting his six-year old niece when he was a teenager.
- The Beavers football program has finally begun it’s spring practice sessions and the Oregonian had these video clips to share from quarterbacks Jake Luton and Tristan Gebbia. The two gunslingers are projected to potentially be in a position battle for the team’s starting role after Luton missed a portion of last season due to injury and Gebbia transfered into the program from Nebraska.
- Athlon Sports has put out their full pre-spring rankings of every college football team and Oregon State has come in at the #97 spot overall. The Beavers are situated one place behind Nevada, who defeated Oregon State by a two-point margin in Reno last season. The closest Pac-12 squad to the Beavers is Colorado, who checks in at #75 on the list.
- While the Oregon State women’s basketball team won’t hit the hardwood until Friday, the Pac-12 women’s basketball tournament does kick off on Thursday in Las Vegas, with a full-slate of opening round games. The Beavers are the #3 seed overall and are projected to play the winner of #6 Utah and #11 Washington, after receiving a first-round bye.
- A bit late to the party on this one but a good read none the less, the Statesman Journal brought up these three critical questions that need to be answered this spring for the Oregon State football team. I think it’s safe to assume that at least one of the inquiries probably deals with who will take the field as the opening day quarterback for the Beavers.
