- A tremendous and well-deserved honor, Oregon State sophomore star Aleah Goodman was named as espnW’s Player of the Week, as voted on by women’s basketball experts Charlie Creme, Graham Mays and Mechelle Voepel. Usually a player who comes off the bench for the Beavers, Goodman posted 11 points and 3 assists in a win over USC on Friday and followed up her strong play with a 21-point showing against UCLA.
- Sticking to the hardwood, the aforementioned victories over the likes of USC and UCLA have helped the Beavers women’s team jump three sports in the NCAA National Women’s Basketball Rankings to #9 overall. Currently, ESPN’s Bracketology has the squad projected as a #3 seed, meaning they would host their first two games in the NCAA Tournament.
- One of the crown jewels of the Oregon State athletic department, the baseball team (and reigning National Champions) are once again off to a red-hot start, having won all eight of their games so far this season. This week, they move up just one spot this week in the NCAA National Baseball Rankings to #6 in the country, behind the likes of #1 Vanderbilt (5-1), #2 LSU (7-0), #3 Texas Tech (5-1), #4 UCLA (6-1) and #5 North Carolina (7-0).
- Rankings, rankings, rankings! Even the Oregon State softball squad is knocking on the door for consideration into the National Top 25, as the Beavers garnered 35 points in the voting this week and currently as the third-highest rated team outside the Top 25. The program jumped out to a perfect 8-0 start on the campaign and currently sit at 12-2 overall, with some brutal road tests looming on the horizon.
- An absolute favorite of ours here at Building The Dam (*sarcasm*), the Oregonian’s John Canzano penned this “column” about the weird relationship between Oregon State and former head football coach Gary Andersen and how things still “feel unsettled” between the two parties. Andersen, who is currently in his second stint as the head coach at Utah State, left the Beavers under strange circumstances in October of 2017, leaving $12 million dollars worth of his contract sitting on the table.
