In the series finale Oregon State took care of Nebraska to earn the sweep and improved to 8-0 on the season. Grant Gambrell took the mound as the starter and went 4.1 innings while allowing 3 runs and 6 hits. He gave way to Brandon Eisert who earned his 4th win of the season and Mitchell Verburg closed it out in the ninth.
On offense Alex McGarry, Adley Rutschman and Preston Jones lead the way with 3 hits a piece. Alex McGarry hit his first career home run to give the Beavers a 7-3 lead and all but solidified his place in Oregon State’s starting lineup with an incredible showing in Surprise, Arizona to start the season.
Preston Jones made a fantastic diving catch in the 7th inning to keep Nebraska stuck at 3 runs. The Beavers have been impressive in all facets of the game these past two weeks. Let’s hope the good vibes continue as they head home to take on West Virginia in a 3-game series in Goss Stadium. Go Beavers!
