Newell, who first committed to OSU back in August, picked up numerous offers during his recruitment; including fellow Pac-12 schools Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State, USC and Utah. He also picked up offers from Hawaii, Colorado State, Fresno State, Wyoming and Kansas State.
Newell, 6’ 2” and 215 lbs, graduated from Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek, California. He is rated as a three star recruit by 247sports, and the 30th ranked ATH in the country. Newell is going to bring a lot of power to the Beavers’ running unit; a quick glance at his high school highlights will reveal a ton of defenders getting shoulder checked onto the turf.
