Earlier this week, the Oregon State Beavers released their non-conference men’s basketball schedule for the 2018 campaign. It includes ten regular season games and one exhibition. Seven of the contests will be in Corvallis.
The Beavs will also face Old Dominion in the first round of the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. Missouri, Kennesaw State, Northern Iowa, Penn, Eastern Kentucky and Kansas State are also in that tournament. The two true road contests will be at Long Beach State and St. Louis. Oregon State will also play the Texas A&M Aggies in the Dam City Classic at the Moda Center in Portland.
Here’s a screenshot of the dates:

So here’s our question: how do you feel about this?
There aren’t too many big ticket games on here. With just one P5 opponent (who just happens to be the only team of this group that made the NCAA tournament last year), they might not be putting themselves in a great spot as far as the selection committee is concerned.
On the other hand, the folks in the Corvallis area get plenty of chances to see the Beavs live with this setup. It makes sense that the premier game on this list is in an NBA arena. With any luck, playing some of smaller competition will give OSU the chance to get some wins on their schedule before Pac-12 play begins.
The regular season begins on November sixth.
Also, if anyone wants to fly us to the Virgin Islands to cover the Paradise Jam, you’ll be reimbursed in high fives and/or puka shell necklaces.
Let us know what you think by voting in the poll (if you didn’t come to this link via Twitter on your phone because technology), letting us know in the comments, or tweeting at us. Go Beavs!
