Oregon State Football: Week 1 Depth Chart

The official depth chart has been released for the season opener.

NCAA Football: Pac-12 Media Day Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Quarterbacks

Jake Luton - #6 - Sr. - 6’7, 230

Conor Blount - #2 - R-So. - 6’1, 204

- OR - Jack Colletto - #12 - So. - 6’3, 222

This was generally expected. Conor Blount stood out early in fall practices, but as the season got closer Jake Luton locked the position down. Don’t be surprised to see this battle continue throughout the season.

Running Backs

Artavis Pierce - #21 - Jr. - 5’11, 201

Jermar Jefferson - #22 -Fr. - 5’10, 211

No surprises here. Pierce gets the starting nod after backing up Ryan Nall last year.

Wide Receiver

Timmy Hernandez - #18 - Sr. - 6’0, 198

Andre Bodden - #86 - Jr. - 6’0, 178

- OR - Tino Allen - #9 - So. - 5’11, 205

Wide Receiver

Isaiah Hodgins - #17 - So. - 6’4, 208

Champ Flemings - #16 - R-Fr. - 5’5, 143

- OR - Aaron Short - #19 - R-Jr. - 6’1, 200

Wide Receiver

Trevon Bradford - #8 - Jr. - 6’0, 179

Kolby Taylor - #5 - R-Fr. - 5’11, 201

- OR - Jesiah Irish - #13 - Fr. - 5’11, 176

Hernandez, Hodgins, and Bradford were expected as starters. A lot of people will be looking for Hodgins to step up and became the Beavers’ primary receiving threat. Kolby Taylor, backing up Bradford, is also an interesting player to watch. He looked very good in fall camp this year, and could battle his way into a larger role on the offense.

Tight Ends

Isaiah Smalls - #10 - Fr. - 6’4, 222

Teagan Quitoriano - #84 - Fr. - 6’6, 252

- OR - Quinn Smith - #83 - Sr. - 6’4, 247

After Noah Togiai’s injury last week (he’ll miss at least a month), Oregon State was left with few options at Tight End. Freshman Isaiah Smalls will get the start, at least until Togiai is ready to return.

Left Tackle

Blake Brandel - #73 - Jr. - 6’7, 307

Jake Levengood #70 - Fr. - 6’4, 272

Left Guard

Gus Lavaka - #63 - Jr. - 6’4, 353

Brock Wellsfry - #71 - R-Fr. - 6’5, 296

Center

Sumner Houston - #52 - Sr. - 6’2, 287

Nous Keobounnam - #69 - R-So. - 6’2, 289

Right Guard

Kammy Delp - #51 - Sr. - 6’3, 318

- OR - Yanni Demogerontas - #76 - Sr. - 6’3, 287

Right Tackle

Trent Moore - #67 - Sr. - 6’4, 289

Clay Cordasco - #78 - R-Jr. - 6’5, 309

Brandel, Lavaka, Houston, Delp, and Moore make this one of the most experienced units on the team. Brandel in particular may be the best player on the team, depending on who you ask.

Defense

Defensive End

Isaac Hodgins - #90 - Fr. - 6’0, 265

Isaac Garcia - #92 - R-Fr. - 6’4, 248

Defensive Tackle

Kalani Vakameilalo - #97 - Sr. - 6’3, 322

Elu Aydon - #99 - Jr. - 6’3, 378

Defensive End

Miki Fifita - #72 - Jr. - 6’4, 296

- OR - LaMone Williams - #96 - Sr. - 6’3, 275

Jeromy Reichner’s injury created a huge gap in the Defensive Line. True Freshman Isaac Hodgins has looked great in camp, and gets the start. Expect Kalani Vakameilalo to step up big time as a leader. He’s already one of the best players on the team, but with a lot of youth in this unit, he’ll take on an even bigger role this season.

Outside Linebacker

Andrzej Hughes-Murray - #49 - Jr. - 6’2, 245

Matthew Tago - #8 - Fr. - 6’2, 225

Inside Linebackers

Jonathan Willis - #32 - Sr. - 6’1, 225

Doug Taumoelau - #42 - So. - 6’2, 223

Inside Linebackers

Shemar Smith - #42 - Jr. - 6’1, 237

Isaiah Tufaga - #44 - Fr. - 6’0, 207

Outside Linebacker

Hamilcar Rashed Jr. - #9 - So. - 6’4, 223

- OR - Kee Whetzel - #7 - So. - 6’3, 206

John McCartan - #17 - Fr. - 6’5, 214

Not a lot of surprises here. Hughes-Murray and Rashed are two of the more disruptive players on defense, and will hopefully bring the pass rush the Beavers missed last season.

Cornerbacks

Dwayne Williams - #4 - Sr. - 5’9, 175

DeShon Wilson - #3 - Fr. - 6’0, 194

Safety

Shawn Wilson - #2 - Jr. - 5-9, 193

Jeffrey Manning Jr. - #15 - R-Fr. - 6’1, 192

Safety

Jalen Moore - #33 - Jr. - 6’0, 208

Drew Kell - #30 - Sr. - 6’1, 195

Cornerbacks

Kaleb Hayes - #14 - R-Fr. - 6’1, 183

Jaydon Grant - #26 - R-So. - 6’0, 174

This is another unit that’s suffering from injuries, with Safety David Morris out indefinitely. Shawn Wilson will get the start in his place. For the Cornerbacks, Jay Irvine is still out, which means Redshirt Freshman Kaleb Hayes will have a starting role.

Place Kicker

Jordan Choukair - #46 - Jr. - 6’1, 195

Nick Van Valkenburg - #85 - R. So - 5’11, 176

Punter

Daniel Rodriguez - #39 - Jr. - 5’10, 207

Luke Loecher - #38 - R-Fr. - 6’4, 207

Kick Returner

Artavis Pierce - #21 - Jr. - 5’11, 201

Trevon Bradford - #8 - Jr. - 6’0, 179

Punt Returner

Trevon Bradford - #8 - Jr. - 6’0, 179

Jesiah Irish - #13 - Fr. - 5’11, 176

Long Snapper

Connor Kelsey - #57 - R-Sr. - 6’2, 216

- OR - Keegan Firth - #37 - R-Jr. - 6’4, 230

Holder

Timmy Hernandez - #18 - Sr. - 6’0, 198

Not a lot of surprises when it comes to special teams. Jordan Choukair hit some long field goals in Bend and could be a real asset this season. Trevon Bradford will stay busy returning kicks/punts, but I hope Jesiah Irish gets an opportunity this season because he is electric in the open field.
