In about as complete a victory as they could hope for, #3 Oregon State defeated the Ducks 10-0 in Eugene on Tuesday night.
OSU tallied 19 hits to Oregon’s three and committed the only error of the night.
Over the course of the five games against Oregon, OSU outhit the Ducks 57 to 22 and outscored them 33 to 11.

In this game, Oregon State got their first run in the top of the fifth thanks to an RBI double by Nick Madrigal with some clever base running by Steven Kwan.
Then in the sixth, the Beaver offense went on a tear for eight runs. It would be the most runs that OSU has scored in a single inning in 2018. The inning also included a streak of six straight hits for the Beavs. Tyler Malone and Troy Claunch earned an RBI each. Then Cadyn Grenier, Trevor Larnach, and Adley Rutschman each picked up two RBIs in that inning.
Juuuuust missed the slam.

OSU’s tenth and final run of the game came in the eighth with a Michael Gretler solo homer.

Christian Chamberlain was tonight’s starting pitcher for Oregon State going 4.2 innings allowing one hit and one walk with four strikeouts. Brandon Eisert pitched 2.1 innings of relief allowing one hit and a walk with two strikeouts. Eisert was awarded the win, bringing his record to 4-3 on the season. Nathan Burns threw the final two innings with one hit and two strikeouts.
With the victory over the old archrival, Oregon State’s record now sits at 36-7-1 this season.
With some momentum and confidence on their side, Oregon State now returns home for their biggest test of the year: a three-game series with #2 Stanford. Their Pac-12 Championship hopes would get a HUGE boost with a winning performance in that series.
It will be a battle of epic proportions no doubt. We’ll be talking about it on BTD plenty this week, so check back for more.
