Oregon State basketball and Wayne Tinkle have earned another commitment for the 2018 class. Antoine Vernon, the 5-foot-10 Canadian point guard, has verbally committed to play for Oregon State basketball. Vernon is a very bright student and is reported to have a 4.0 GPA. He was also heavily recruited by Northern Arizona University, but chose the Beavers.
Well it's official, i can finally say 2018 PG Antoine Vernon of @TRCwolfpack has officially committed to Oregon State University @BeaverMBB I got to coach Antoine 2 weeks ago & knew then he was a HM point guard! The two-star point guard is flying a little bit under the radar, but has the potential to be a very good floor general for the Beavers. Vernon is a very quick and athletic guard, but perhaps his greatest asset (besides his toughness) is his ability to see the floor and create for his teammates. He is also a threat to score the basketball and makes up for his lack of size with an efficient floater once he gets into the paint.
The Beavers still have a couple scholarship spots open for the 2018-19 season, but those spots are rapidly getting snatched up. It will be interesting to see who among this group steps up to balance out Oregon State’s roster next season.
