Oregon State outhit Arizona 8-6 on Friday night and committed no errors to Arizona’s two on the way to a 6-2 victory. That makes the Beavs 24-4 overall now. A big offensive surge late put OSU in position to start the series up a game.

The Beavers went up early with a Steven Kwan RBI in T3. Then in B4, Arizona was able to tie the game with a solo home run by Nick Quintana. In the sixth, the Beavs took the lead for good when they brought in three combined runs from a Michael Gretler double and a hit by Cadyn Grenier that somehow scored two runs on an error by the Arizona infield.

Both teams would add a run in the eighth and Oregon State would put up one more in the top of the ninth to bring the final score to 6-2.
Bryce Fehmel got the start tonight in place of Luke Heimlich, who threw two innings on Tuesday against Nevada this week. Fehmel threw 6.2 innings with four hits, a run that was earned, two walks, and three strikeouts. Dylan Pearce pitched 0.2 innings of relief and he gave up one hit, and one earned run facing three batters. Jake Mulholland pitched the last 1.2 innings earning his ninth save of the year with a strikeout and a walk.
This was probably Bryce’s best start of the year and it came at an opportune time. I’m interested now how they’ll adjust the rotation for the rest of this series. I guess we’ll find out.
The series continues Saturday evening at 7 PM on the Pac-12 Network.
