Oregon State will have another gap to fill on next year’s basketball team, as forward Ben Koné has decided to transfer. Koné announced this in a twitter post today, thanking the Beavers’ coaching staff.
Originally a three star recruit out of Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, Koné suffered an ACL tear in his senior high school season, and has struggled to fully recover.
That injury led to Koné missing the first few games of his freshman season. He missed more games his sophomore season to a meniscus issue, and by that time had the team had begun to give more minutes to Seth Berger and other power forward options. Koné played only 77 minutes in the past season.
The decision leaves the Beavers with three scholarship openings on the roster. Stay tuned to Building the Dam to see how those end up being filled.
