The Beavers gave us a bit of a scare in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader. But in the end, some clutch offense and great pitching in the later innings got the job done.
You can read our recap of game one, which featured a fantastic day from Bryce Fehmel, here.
Rutschman's two-run double is the game winner as the BEAVERS WIN 5-4 to sweep the doubleheader on Saturday.

The fifth inning was productive for both teams as Hartford added one, but the Beavs got an RBI each from Troy Caunch and Cadyn Grenier. The moment of truth came in the bottom of the seventh as Adley Rutschman drilled one to right field, scoring two more and giving the Beavs the 5-4 lead.

Oregon State would hang on to that lead through the end of the game, bringing their record to 11-0. The Beavers are now one of just seven teams left in D1 with an undefeated record.
Kevin Abel got the start on the mound and went five innings allowing five hits and four earned runs with four strikeouts and five walks. Jordan Britton and Brandon Eisert both made brief relief appearances, but it was Jake Mulholland who pitched the final inning and earned the save (his third of the year). The win went to Eisert, who is now 1-0 in 2018.
The series wraps up Sunday at 12:05 PM PT as Oregon State goes for the sweep.
