Is Wayne Tinkle On The Hot Seat In 2018-2019?
The question about Tinkle potentially being on the hot seat was conjured after this year’s 16-16 showing, where Oregon State’s inconsistencies became a staple of their game-by-game efforts. Overall, the Beavers have posted a 57-70 overall record in Tinkle’s four seasons, which has included a 25-47 mark in Pac-12 Conference play.
The 52-year old head coach did guide Oregon State to their first NCAA Tournament birth in over two decades back in 2016, but he followed that promising run up with an abysmal 5-27 campaign. The Beavers have also never finished higher than 6th in the league regular season standings under Tinkle and are a combined 8-28 during the past two regular seasons against league adversaries.
While the debate around Tinkle’s status will undoubtedly rage on, it seems like Beaver Nation believes the head coach should not be worrying about coaching for his job just yet.
And who knows, maybe a colossal turnaround in 2018-2019 will make us all forget that we ever even poised this question in the first place.
