247Sports 3-star running back Jermar Jefferson signs with the Beavers over offers from Colorado, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Rutgers, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah and Utah State while also receiving late interest from USC. Top247 rankings Jefferson as the No. 17 running back in the entire country.

The 5-foot-10, 188-pound running back from Narbonne High School out of Redondo Beach, California becomes the first running back commitment for Oregon State in the 2018 class.

With the departure of Ryan Nall (declared for NFL draft) and Thomas Tyner (elected to step away from football), the Beavers are in need of depth at the running back position. Junior Artavis Pierce, sophomore Calvin Tyler Jr, and redshirt-freshman B.J. Baylor will take a majority of the carries and touches next season. Jefferson should be able to come in and redshirt his freshman year and be able to develop, grow, and learn under some good backs ahead of him and this new coaching staff.
