Wynston Russell Signs With Oregon State Football

The 3-star defensive back is officially a Beaver

NCAA Football: Southern California at Oregon State Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Beaver Nation, please give a warm welcome to defensive back Wynston Russell who signed his national letter of intent Wednesday morning.

Russell does not have an imposing frame (generously listed at 5’11, 180-pounds), but he is a lockdown cornerback. Wynston Russell is a very similar player to former Beav Dwayne Williams (grad transfer) and I would expect Russell to have an even bigger impact if he is able to stay healthy.

During Russell’s recruitment a number of college programs shied away from him because of his size, but they could end up regretting that decision. Wynston Russell still held offers from Wisconsin, Iowa State , Syracuse and a handful of other programs. Russell shut down his recruitment back in June though and is headed to Corvallis to play in the Pac-12.

Russell is quite the athlete who used to play running back and saw time at receiver and on defense. likely will see time at receiver and running back in certain packages. Besides the defensive line the Beavers have the least amount of depth in the secondary, I’m looking forward to big things from Wynston Russell during his career in Corvallis.
