Aleah Goodman keeps the Beavers undefeated in the Maui Classic

NCAA Womens Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Oregon State vs Western Kentucky News Sentinel-USA TODAY NETWORK

Late last night Oregon State took on Eastern Washington in their first game of this year’s Maui Classic. It’s the Beavers third trip to Maui for the Classic, and they’ve yet to lose a game. That record held up this year, with the Beavers crushing the Eagles of Eastern Washington 93-45.

Eastern Washington looked like they would keep things close, coming out aggressive in the first quarter and keeping Oregon State’s offense in check. Eastern Washington and Oregon State came out of the quarter tied 13-13. It was all downhill for the Eagles from there.

An 18-0 run in the second quarter gave the Beavers their first big lead of the game, and there was no coming back for EWU. The Beavers defense never let up on the pressure, and at half time Oregon State led 36-23.

The second half was even more dominant, with the Beavers dropping 57 points on the Eagles. OSU was led by a career best night from Aleah Goodman. Goodman finished the night with 22 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds.

She was joined in double figures by Mikayla Pivec, Destiny Slocum and Kat Tudor. Pivec nearly hit her second straight double-double, with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Slocum had 17 points and 3 rebounds, while Tudor had 12 points and 2 rebounds.

The Beavers will finish up their Hawaii trip facing off with Texas A&M. It’ll be another late tip-off, 9:30 PST. Be sure to stay up and support the team.
