Opponent Preview: Montana Tech Orediggers

A comprehensive and entirely factual look at the Beavs exhibition opponent

NCAA Basketball: Oregon State at Washington State James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

The Oregon State Men’s basketball squad suits up against an opponent that isn’t themselves for the first time today as they host the mighty Orediggers of Montana Tech today at 5pm. Let’s take a closer look at the boys from Big Sky country.

Players to watch

#1 Nate Ward

Number one in the scorebook and number one in our hearts is sophomore Nate Ward. The University Place, Washington native transferred from Eastern Arizona College to Montana Tech during the offseason. Ward averaged 8.2 points last season and is looking to add more as the Orediggers point guard. Ward is studying communication and is still upset with the ending of How I Met Your Mother.

#3 Troy Jones Jr

The son of Troy Jones is a new addition the the digs roster after playing at Sacramento City College. The six foot two inch guard who weighs one hundred and eighty pounds poured in double digits every game last year. Troy is studying communications and definitely heard Laurel and not Yanny.

#5 Dylan Pannabecker

The junior forward out of the beautiful city of Choteau, Montana opened up the season with an 18 point performance against Yellowstone Christian College. Last season he started 26 of 29 contests played. Averaged 7.0 points per game shooting 44.9 percent from the floor. Named Academic All-Conference. Pannabecker wants to be a civil engineer and really loves pancakes

#21 Carson Dummer

The 6 foot 8 inch forward/center from Helena, Montana played in 30 games last season while pouring in 5.4 points a game and shooting 53% from the field. The 5th year senior is the veteran of the Orediggers squad. Dummer is studying Occupational Safety and Health and is really tired of short people asking him “How’s the weather up there??”

#24 Drew Huse

The redshirt freshman guard hails from Bozeman, Montana. Drew is the third Huse man to wear the Digger green following in the footsteps of his father and his uncle. He played for Bozeman High School, averaging 13.0 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 3.8 APG and 1.2 SPG as a senior. Huse scored 13 points in the Diggers first game of the season and is well known for making great grilled cheese sandwiches.

Well now that you know the Orediggers go ahead and check them out in person as they take on the Beavs in Gill at 5pm... At the very least you can hang out with fellow beav fans and talk about how this year is gonna be the year!
