The fourth week of the NFL season is in the books. Can you believe a quarter of the NFL season is over? As we head into the fifth week of the season more and more bye weeks will start popping up (weeks 7-11 have the most teams with the week off). This is why it’s important to build your depth and be active on the waive-wire.
TOP WAIVER-WIRE PICKUPS (Oct. 2nd)
Running Backs
- Tarik Cohen - Chicago Bears
- Aaron Jones - Green Bay Packers
- T.J. Yeldon - Jacksonville Jaguars
The Bears offense had a huge day and Cohen looked particularly impressive. If they continue to utilize him in the passing game he could be very valuable moving forward (especially in PPR leagues). Leonard Fournette has been ruled out indefinitely and Yeldon will get a lot of touches moving forward.
Wide Receivers
- Alshon Jeffery - Philadelphia Eagles
- John Brown - Baltimore Ravens
- Corey Davis - Tennessee Titans
- Geronimo Allison - Green Bay Packers
There are so many good WRs in the NFL. Alshon Jeffery returned from injury and had a huge game. I didn’t include Tyler Boyd and Calvin Ridley because at this point they shouldn’t even be available on the waiver-wire anymore.
Tight Ends
- Cameron Brate - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Rhett Ellison - New York Giants
- Tyler Kroft - Cincinnatti Bengals
O.J. Howard will miss a few weeks with injury and Cameron Brate immediately becomes a top-5 tight end while he is out. Finding reliable pass-catching tight ends is difficult, but Ellison and Kroft could be good one-week streamers if your tight end has a bye week. Also, if Jared Cook looks like he is a weekly must start.
TOP DEFENSES TO STREAM
- TEN Titans vs. Buffalo Bills
- SF 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals
- CIN Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins
If you’re looking for a defense to grab from the waiver wire to plug in your lineup look no further! (Also, how do the Titans keep winning?)
DUMP EM’
- Chris Hogan - WR
- Peyton Barber - RB
- Isaiah Crowell - RB
- Marquise Goodwin - WR
- Kelvin Benjamin - WR
These are some good players and I wouldn’t drop them unless you really like or need someone else from the waiver wire, but man have they been disappointing. I was fairly high on all of these players during draft season, but at some point you have to let go; they are not producing.
BTD’s WEEK FOUR RECAP:
Standings:
- Marcus Russell (4-0)
- Erik Briggs (3-1)
- Justin Sattelmaier (3-1)
- Joe Londergan (2-2)
- Albert Lee (2-2)
- Kyle Wilson (2-2)
- Patrick Moen (1-3)
- Travis Johannes (1-3)
- John Severs (1-3)
- Callie Cornilles (1-3)
It was a big week for scoring in fantasy football. Really there’s been a lot of points going around the first four weeks of the NFL season. Let’s hope it continues!
