The media has submitted their ballots and the results are in for the preseason Pac-12 Basketball poll. Of the 25 ballots, the Ducks finished with 16 first place votes. Oregon State did not receive any first place votes (no surprise), but finished 10th (bad surprise). Personally I would slot them at 8th (above Stanford and Utah).
Here are the results:
PAC-12 Preseason Media Poll
- Oregon - 288 points (16)
- UCLA - 264 points (6)
- Washington - 249 (2)
- Arizona - 205 (1)
- USC - 203
- Arizona State - 165
- Colorado - 161
- Utah - 122
- Stanford - 109
- Oregon State - 102
- California - 45
- Washington State - 42
Last season, the Beavers finished 10th in the conference with a 7-11 record (16-16 overall). While they did lose Drew Eubanks to the NBA, they should improve on that record with the return of Tres Tinkle, Stephen Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Alfred Hollins and others.
Ethan Thompson is expected to handle more point guard duties this season and the Beavers are still waiting to hear back from the NCAA on the eligibility-status of big man transfer, Payton Dastrup, which would help shore up their front court depth.
