The Beavers start 1-0 in CWS play with a 6-5 win over the Titans in Omaha.

NCAA Baseball: College World Series-Cal State Fullerton vs Oregon State Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

In their first game of the 2017 College World Series, Oregon State had their first real sign of adversity in recent memory. Nevertheless, they persisted and overcame a four run deficit for the victory.

A three run homer by Timmy Richards gave Fullerton the early lead in the first inning. The Beavers quickly got one back on an RBI ground-out from Steven Kwan in the second.

Chris Hudgins added to the Titan lead with a two run single in the fourth inning. Then in the sixth, a Nick Madrigal sac fly made it 5-2. KJ Harrison then drew a walk, that allowed Trevor Larnach to score two with a bases loaded base hit. Jack Anderson brought in another one to tie it up in the next at bat.

Adley Rutschman finally gave the Beavers the lead in the eighth with an RBI single with two down.

Jake Thompson started and only went 3.2 innings, his shortest day of the year. Thompsons netted just one strikeout on three hits and five earned runs with three walks. Jake Mulholland was the real pitching hero of the day for OSU. He went 4.1 innings with three strikeouts and no hits to give the offense room to breath. Drew Rasmussen earned the save pitching the final inning for just his second of the year.

Adding to the reasons to celebrate, we got a few ESPN worthy web gems like this heads up play from Adley Rutschman.

Oregon State continues their run at the title on Monday at 4 PM PT. They’ll play the winner of LSU and Florida State, who get going later today.
