Tuesday marked the first civil war game of the season with Oregon State getting the early edge on the Ducks and a 4-1 victory in front of another sell out crowd at Goss Stadium.
Jordan Britton got his first start of the season after starting three games last season. The sophomore had only pitched 4.1 innings this season, exceeding that total today with 5.2 innings of two hit baseball while giving up one run, picking up his first win of the season. Freshman Brandon Eisert got the call in the 6th inning and kept the Duck batters guessing with 6 strikeouts, including 5 consecutive K’s, during his 3.1 innings of work to close out the 4-1 victory and earn his second save of the season.
Oregon State scored a run in the first inning to take an early lead with a sac fly by Jack Anderson that scored Steven Kwan. The Beavs picked up two more in the 4th inning with a sharply hit infield single by Adley Rutschman scoring Anderson and a sac fly from Nick Madrigal that scored Christian Donahue. Anderson continued his great day at the plate with an RBI single in the 7th to give the Beavs their 4th run of the game. The junior right fielder out of Lake Oswego also flashed the leather in the 5th inning, robbing Duck catcher Tim Susnara of a hit with a spectacular diving catch.
Jack Anderson flashing the leather here in t5. Fantastic catch by the right fielder.
