The weekend started well for OSU on Thursday night as the Beavers got their second win of the year over Oregon.

Luke Heimlich made his 13th start of the year going for six full innings. In that span, he allowed seven hits, one run, and one walk. He also threw seven strikeouts, which put him up to 106 on the year. Heimlich’s record improves to 8-1 in 2017.

Brandon Eisert threw the final three innings and got himself four strikeouts in his 16th appearance of the year. He earned his third save of the year.

Adley Rutschman raked one to left field to put OSU on the board in the fourth. Michael Gretler quickly followed it up with a solo homer of his own that same frame.

In the next inning, Rutschman got his second RBI when he brought in Jack Anderson on a single.

Oregon got one back in the fifth when Heimlich hit a batter with the bases loaded.

The Beavers added to the lead in the eighth with a few big plays. Gretler contributed with an RBI single that scored Preston Jones first. Several batters later, Jack Anderson came up big with a double that scored Gretler along with Nick Madrigal.

The series picks back up tomorrow at 7 PM as the Ducks’ Golden Spikes Award contender David Peterson is scheduled to start against an OSU pitcher that hasn’t been finalized yet. A win in that game secures the Pac-12 Championship for the Beavers.
