- New AD Scott Barnes will not be quick to make a significant change in the Oregon State men’s basketball program, as he recently expressed his support for head coach Wayne Tinkle to The Oregonian (OregonLive.com). Despite this season’s five-win display, Barnes believes that the program is heading in the right direction under Tinkle.
- Former OSU basketball standout Angus Brandt is continuing his professional basketball career in Australia and in Game 2 of the NBL Grand Final, Brandt made quite the impact for his Perth Wildcats team. Brandt contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds in just 22 minutes of action and was given a “9” rating for his showing by Fox Sports Australia (FoxSports.com.AU).
- NCAA Baseball’s official Twitter account gave us a gem of a video focusing on Oregon State’s 7-1 start to the 2017 campaign, entitled “The Diamond: A Season With Oregon State Baseball - Episode 1”. The five-minute video is part of a longer video series that will follow this year’s Beavers baseball team in their attempt to return to the NCAA Tournament, after last year’s snub from the field.
- Speaking of Oregon State baseball, 102.9/750 The Game’s John Canzano had Oregon State head coach Pat Casey on his podcast this week, to discuss a whole host of topics ranging from both baseball to the importance of loyalty and community. It’s under twenty minutes long and like anytime Pat Casey talks, he only needs about one minute to become your favorite baseball coach ever.
- The Register Guard did a solid recap of Oregon State’s “rough season” before their meeting with in-state rival Oregon on Saturday, which includes some interesting quotes from both Wayne Tinkle and forward Drew Eubanks. In the article, Tinkle stresses the importance of “staying positive and improving every day” throughout the year as he lies in wait for the 200th win of his career.
