Cal throttles Oregon State, 76-46

Ivan Rabb and company were too much for the Beavers

Oregon State actually got off to a quick start in this game and jumped out to an early lead. Cal looked disjointed on offense and generally out of rhythm. With about 12 minutes to go in the first half things quickly took a turn for the worst. Cal began asserting their dominance and Oregon State stopped getting open shots.

In fact, the Beavers struggled to get any good shots up the rest of the game and finished the game shooting just 37% from the field (28.6% from three). Cal wasn’t shooting particularly well tonight and ended up making just two shots from downtown, but they absolutely destroyed Oregon State on the glass.

Cal out rebounded the Beavs 42-22 and Oregon State managed to only secure two measly offensive rebounds, despite missing a plethora of shots. Ivan Rabb lead the way for Cal, scoring 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Ivan Rabb had more offensive rebounds than Oregon State did as a team.

The Beavers were lead by Kendal Manuel (14 points) and Stephen Thompson Jr (12 points). Drew Eubanks struggled tonight against Cal’s athletic defense and finished with just 3 points (1-for-6 from the field). Also, Ben Kone was the only bench player to get in the scoring column tonight (5 points).

This game was probably a lot more enjoyable to watch if you were a Golden Bears fan. They enjoyed an easy win on senior night and got to play all their seniors. In fact, senior guard Sam Singer, was the Bears second leading scorer (14 points) and took it upon himself to make the most of his senior night. His offensive explosion near the end of the game even caused the crowd to chant his name.

Oregon State will now return home and face the Oregon Ducks, next Saturday (3 PM PT). Next Saturday’s game will be the last regular season game for the Beavers and they won’t play again until the Pac-12 tournament starts.
