Following an undefeated weekend the Beavers will stay in Surprise, Arizona to take on Nebraska and Ohio State in the Big-10/Pac-12 Spring Training College Baseball Challenge. Utah will also represent the Pac-12 in Surprise this weekend, but the Beavs and Utes will have to wait until April to face each other.

The Beavers:

A hot start from the Beaver pitching staff and lineup has the team off to the races with a perfect 4-0 start. The Beavers opened the season with 2 wins a piece over Duke and Indiana last weekend in Surprise, Arizona.

Luke Heimlich was selected as the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week following his opening day 11 strikeout performance against Indiana. Starting pitchers Bryce Fehmel, Sam Tweedt, and Jake Thompson also started the season strong as the staff combined to give up only three earned runs over the weekend.

Nick Madrigal led the offense, going 6 for 15 with a home run and 4 RBIs, while fellow sophomore Trevor Larnach went 4 for 10 with his first career home run. As a team the Beavers lineup hit a collective .270 over the 4 game set.

The Cornhuskers:

Nebraska, with former major league outfielder Darin Erstad at the helm, was picked to finish third in the conference by Big-10 coaches. The Cornhuskers sit at 1-1 after splitting an opening day doubleheader with UC Riverside in Tempe. The final two games of the series were rained out.

The Buckeyes:

Led by the bat of Senior first baseman Zach Ratcliff (.438, 2 HR, 6 RBI) the Buckeyes were able to split a 4 game set in Osceola, Florida taking the first two games versus Kansas State and Delaware before falling to Pitt and Kansas State in the final two games of the weekend.
