Oregon State continued their strong start to the season with an emphatic victory over a young, but promising Duke team.

Sam Tweedt started on the mound for OSU, going six innings, giving up two hits and an unearned run, and striking out three. Grant Gambrell made his NCAA debut relieving Tweedt and pitched the remaining three innings, allowing 3 more hits and one more run.

Offensively, the Beavers had little trouble against Duke’s pitching staff throughout the game, as the score would suggest. OSU had fourteen total hits against 5 Duke pitchers. The Beavs scored 3 in the first, one in the second, one in the sixth, an impressive five in the seventh, and one in the eighth. Nine different players scored and nine different players tallied hits. Center fielder Cary Elliott was a human highlight reel for OSU at the plate, gaining 3 hits in four at bats, scoring a run and driving in two more.

The Beavers close out their time in Arizona tomorrow, Monday Feb. 20, with a rematch against Indiana. OSU won their first meeting with the Hoosiers earlier this weekend in a 1-0 shutout. Jake Thompson is the projected starting picture for OSU.
