Reports: Oregon State football will add two offensive assistants from Pac-12 schools

Colorado’s Brian Lindgren and Arizona’s Jim Michalczik are the two likely additions to Jonathan Smith’s staff.

While the hires have yet to be formally announced, multiple news outlets around the western states reported the imminent additions of Colorado’s co-offensive coordinator and Arizona’s offensive line coach to the Oregon State football coaching staff.

Lindgren has led the CU offense for five years. While the Buffs were somewhat inconcsistent, that offense was a huge part of why they reached the Pac-12 championship in 2016.

Meanwhile, Michalczik has helped Arizona’s O-line pave the way for Khalil Tate. As a result, the Wildcats had the #1 scoring offense and the #1 rushing offense in the league in 2017. Arizona was also first in total offense this season.

No word yet on if the two coaches will assume the same positions with the Beavs.

Yesterday, the hiring of a director of football operations in Dan Van Der Riet from Nebraska was reported, but since the job posting apparently doesn’t close until Wednesday, we likely will not see that announcement until Thursday. I imagine these hires will be made official around the same time.
