Four Beavers score in double figures as the Oregon State Women’s Basketball Team handled the Nevada Wolfpack, 89-49, to conclude the first day of the Maui Classic. Kat Tudor led the Beavers in scoring for the second time this season with 15, but Marie Gulich was the most efficient by scoring all of her 14 points in the first half on 7-9 shooting before sitting out most of the second half. Other double digit scorers included Katie McWilliams, who scored 12 points by hitting her first four three-point attempts, and Taylor Kalmer with 11.
Oregon State jumped out to a 13 point lead at the end of the first quarter, and then led by 20 on a Gulich layup early in the second quarter, making it 33-13. By halftime, the Beavers had more than doubled the Wolfpacks’ score, leading 48-23. Pivec increased the lead to 30 early in second half in with an end-to-end layup. The lead reached 47 going into the fourth, thanks to some spectacular third quarter three-point shooting, hitting seven on just eight tries.
The Beaver defense stymied the Wolfpack to hold them to just 27.4% shooting on the night. Teige Zeller led Nevada with 17 points while Terae Briggs chipped in 11. Nevada drops to 3-4, while Oregon State improves to 4-2.
