The Beavers have had two decommitments in the past few days in 4-star quarterback Spencer Petras from Greenbrae, California who flipped his commitment to Iowa and 3-star wide receiver Anthony Spurlock from New Orleans, Louisana who is exploring other options closer to home.

However, that did not stop Jonathan Smith from landing a commitment from Jesiah Irish, a 3-star wide receiver from Snoqualmie, Washington as he committed to Oregon State after he received his offer on December 11th and took his official this past weekend. Irish is also expected to sign during the early signing period between December 20th-22nd.

Irish was able to spend a lot of time with the coaches who are currently on staff such as Jonathan Smith, Mike Riley, and Brian Lindgren and get to know them personally and how they envision using the speedy receiver in their new offense that has been brought in. Irish also cited that he chose Oregon State because of the people of Corvallis, the coaches on this new staff, current players, and overall vibe he experienced when he took his official visit.

Irish held previous offers from BYU, Eastern, Washington, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, and Weber State.

Irish's commitment brings Oregon State's total number of verbal commits for the class of 2018 to twelve and is currently the second wide receiver currently committed to the Beavers as 3-star wide receiver Cameron Thomas from Austin, Texas previously committed to Oregon State on October 1st.
