Wisconsin Outside Linebacker Coach Tim Tibesar Set To Become Beavers Defensive Coordinator

NCAA Football: Wisconsin Badgers-Training Camp Mark Hoffman-USA TODAY NETWORK

The waiting game appears to have finally come to an end. Multiple reports have indicated that University of Wisconsin outside linebacker coach Tim Tibesar will be joining Jonathan Smith’s staff as defensive coordinator.

Tibesar has served as the OLB coach for Wisconsin the past 3 years, and was a finalist for their defensive coordinator job the past two seasons. He has been credited with developing a handful of quality linebackers in his time in Madison.

Tibesar has previously served as a defensive coordinator for North Dakota (2004-2005), Kansas State (2007-2008), the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (2011) and Purdue (2012).

While we don’t yet know who else will serve on his staff, it appears, according to one Beaver recruit, that former OSU linebacker Trent Bray will be returning to OSU.

Another Oregon State alum, Inoke Breckterfield, is also on the Wisconsin staff as the defensive line coach, and could be following Tibesar back to OSU.

It would appear that Tibesar and other members of the coaching staff will be formally announced in the coming days.
