Mikayla Pivec and Marie Gulich scored 37 combined points to lead the Oregon State Beavers (7-2) past the Savannah State Tigers (2-6). Gill was packed with 8,280 fans, which included thousands of students from around the state for the annual Beavers Beyond the Classroom game.
Gulich reeled in her third double-double of the year by scoring 18 on 7-of-8 shooting and nabbing 10 boards. Pivec added three rebounds, two steals, one assist, and a block to her game leading 19 points. Three other Beavers scored in double figures in Joanna Grymek (16), Kat Tudor (11), and Taylor Kalmer (10). Katie McWilliams helped facilitate the scoring with 10 assists with zero turnovers.
The Beaver defense held the Tigers to just 23.2% shooting and kept them to single digit scoring in three of the quarters. Savannah State had just four assists compared to Oregon State’s 26, and had 13 turnovers to the Beavers six. Kaylee Allen led the Tigers with 16 points.
