Preview: Oregon State Women’s Basketball versus Nevada

Beavers open up the Maui Jim Maui Classic against the Wolfpack

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Iowa State vs Nevada James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

The Beavers will play host again at the Maui Jim Maui Classic for the competition’s second year. They will face the Nevada Wolfpack in Wailuku, Hawaii, on Friday, December 1st. Tip off is scheduled for 9 PM PST. You can listen to the game Oregon State AllAccess. Let’s take a closer look at the Wolfpack.

Nevada Wolfpack (3-3)

The Wolfpack come into the Maui with a 3-3 record to start the season, but two of those losses were against quality opponents in Utah and UConn. They are led by senior forward Teige Zeller and guard Halie Bergman who are scoring 13.7 and 11.3 points per game respectively, while each hitting 54% of their shots. Bergman was named the Nugget Classic’s MVP last week.

While Nevada has as many wins as Oregon State does, including two in their capture of Nugget Classic Tournament last week, those wins are all against teams with losing records. Their last five games have been at home as well, so they will need to get acquainted with playing on the road.

Prediction

While the Wolfpack looks to be trending up from their season last year, the Beavers should take this one handily. Look for Oregon State to get their defense back in order after giving up 72 in their loss at Duke.
