Sunday Poll: Should Oregon State Hire Jim McElwain As Their Next Head Coach?

Florida parted ways with the third-year head coach this weekend.

NCAA Football: Kentucky at Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

After a few weeks of speculation surrounding Florida head coach Jim McElwain’s job status, the Gators finally parted ways with the third-year head coach on Sunday, following the team’s blowout defeat at the hands of #3 Georgia. And now, the question is to be asked about where McElwain will end up next in the ever-changing college football landscape.

As with most other proven coaches (McElwain did go 19-8 in his first two seasons with the Gators), the former Colorado State head coach has been a rumored potential candidate for the current Oregon State head coaching vacancy, which at the moment is being filled by interim head coach Cory Hall. Hall, despite an 0-2 start to his head coaching tenure, has seemed to re-inspire the Beavers as a unit in their last two games, losing to both Colorado and Stanford by narrow margins. At the end of the season, the school is expected to make a decision via a national search for their next program director.

So we just had to ask the question...do you think it’s a good idea for Oregon State to hire Jim McElwain as the program’s next head football coach?

While we’re sure there will be some heated conversation over if McElwain would be a good hire or not (especially with the recent widespread backing of Cory Hall) and that’s why we can leave that type of clean, good old fashioned debating for the comments section. As for the poll, it’s a simple “yes” or “no”. Do you think this is the guy that the Beavers should bring in or not?

As with most other editions of our Sunday Poll, the poll closes at 11:59 PM PT on Monday night (October 30th) so be sure to cast your vote now! Let us know what you think Beaver Nation!
