Nick Porebski, Oregon State’s junior Punter is racking up the pre-season accolades. USA Today released its Pac-12 football preview, complete with projected standings, pre-season all conference selections, best unit rankings, quarterback rankings and more. Check out the entire release here.
Nick Porebski earned Oregon State’s lone pre-season all conference selection. USC players earned the most selections with 5; while Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Cal didn’t have any players receiving recognition.
Also of note, Oregon State quarterback Darell Garretson was named the 11th best starting quarterback in the conference, just ahead of Arizona State’s Brady White. And behind Colorado’s Sefo Liufau. Interestingly enough, 5 first time D-1 starters were ranked ahead of Garretson.
USA Today also picked Oregon State to finish last in the Pac-12 North. USA Today’s selections matched the selections made at last month’s Pac-12 media days. They also ranked the Beavers 118th out of 128 FBS schools.
Expectations are not high for Oregon State in 2016. It seems the National media is especially overlooking the Beavers. It’s great to see Nick Porebski getting some pre-season recognition, but hopefully this Oregon State team is known more for their offensive improvements than punting abilities by the end of the season.
